If you’re in Florida, Georgia, Alabama or Louisiana, your trip doesn’t involve a crowded plane, and you can be here in a matter of hours.
Come check out our beautiful canopy roads, and all the things that the Capital of Florida provides. Stay at the Little English Guesthouse Bed and Breakfast and you’ll find we’re right around the corner from Maclay Gardens and some of the finest restaurants in Tallahassee, in the Market District. Downtown is a quick 4 mile drive where you can wander around the historic Capitol, take the lift up to the 22nd observation deck of the New Capitol (currently filled with legislators making new laws for Florida). There are many hours to be spent at the Florida History Museum, the Challenger Learning Center with it’s spectacular planetarium and more. Lunch is served at the Edison, a renovated power station at Cascades Park where you can sit and watch the waterfall and marvel at the architecture that turned a holding pond into a modern delight. Also downtown are the universities FSU and FAMU.
Even if you’re not a fan, you must visit the football stadium, the locals call it the coliseum and it’s a modern day brick structure marvel!
At some point you’ll need to take a hike or just a pleasant stroll on the Alford Greenway, about 15 minutes drive from the Little English Guesthouse Bed and Breakfast, with lots of Instagrammable moments there.
And further afield…. Wakulla Springs, St. Marks lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge are just a 30 minute drive, we often drive down there just to watch the sunset.
If you’ve a few more days… St. George Island beach, Apalachicola Village and the rest of the idyllic Forgotten Coast await.
