Having been glued to the news for the last day, it’s been a beautiful thing to see how the people of Manchester have rallied around each other. It’s also been interesting to see how ex-pats like myself have had first reactions of anger at the loss of innocents (22 so far) and then sadness at what it all means going forward.
A police officer is among the dead, the suicide bomber himself is dead and 5 have been arrested, as it becomes evident he did not act alone.
I agree with Mancunians and all who have had first hand experience of such terror, we cannot hole ourselves up in our homes. We cannot stop congregating and assembling at concert halls, graduation ceremonies and sports events because of fear.
We must continue to live our lives as normal, free people. And we must pray – for Manchester, for Jerusalem and for every town in between, that terrorism will stop and peace will prevail.
