Much as we all love to complain about the weather, or as some call it, “just talking about” the weather, these facts speak for themselves. (Courtesy of Wink TV in Southwest Florida). It’s almost like living in London.
Many of our guests are parents of FSU students. Some of those students are fortunate enough to participate in the Study Abroad program and spend 3 months studying in London, or Milan. When these parents tell me they’re going to visit their child in London and ask for advice, what do you think is my first comment?
Pack one of everything.
Take a winter coat with gloves and a hat. And of course an umbrella that will stand up to the wind.
Remember to pack thermal underwear and sturdy shoes that will keep your feet dry.
Don’t forget a t-shirt and shorts, and some sunscreen.
Add a dress shirt, a fascinator for your hair, and maybe a bikini, and Bob’s your uncle, you’re all set to go.
Be aware, you may wear all of these clothes in one day – such is British weather.
Apparently it’s Florida weather too – could this be climate change that has drifted over the Atlantic from old Blighty? Who knows.
Much as I love the country of my birth, and love my visits with family and friends, I’m always happy to return to the land of Florida. The land of hurricanes and sinkholes, mosquitos, alligators and cold tea with copious sugar served in plastic cups.
It’s almost like being back home. But without the dysfunctional Royal family.
