Could it be she’s just pleased to get out of the London cab and rip off her Covid19 facemask? Or could it be she’s just deliriously joyful at being in London and not in Tallahassee, Inferno Florida? Let’s be honest, August in Tallahassee is not the most pleasant place to be if you don’t have artic-quality air conditioning in your home, workplace and vehicle. Maybe she jumps for joy because she made it through the pandemic healthy, financially stable and so did her loved ones.
When we think of the plethora of reasons this exquisite ballerina could be suspended in mid air, we can’t but help think of the reasons that would make us leap into the air. Just the thought of getting on a half-empty plane to London, without any pre-travel Covid tests, no arrival quarantine and no pre-return nose swabs could certainly entice me into a little jig around the breakfast room. (Trust me, you really don’t want to be the unfortunate witness to my ugly “jete” leap through the bed and breakfast. Elegant, it is not.)
Other things that could propel me into the air… if my dog would actually come to me when called. If it would rain gently, a little British drizzle, to liven up the grass and nourish the flowers rather than the summer, afternoon monsoons we experience here in Tallahassee. How about the news cycle not being full of death and depression, but the good things that good people have done for each other. If my husband would close the back door quietly and not jolt the pictures off the wall. If my brothers would return my phone calls. If the Coronavirus would die a sudden and miraculous death and we could return to talking about things not connected with it. That would REALLY make me leap, gazelle like, in front of the Capital – purchase your tickets now! So, just out of interest, at this time in your life, what would make YOU jump for joy – and what do you think is making her so happy?
