I can imagine King Charles saying to William, “fancy a bit of polo, old chap?” as they sip cups of tea delivered to them by their individual butlers in Buck House.
That is not likely to happen in little old Tallahassee. But what is actually going to happen is the Red Hills Polo Classic tomorrow at Pebble Hill plantation. It’s a women’s polo match to benefit Pebble Hill’s Preservation Fund (they probably had butlers back in the old days). That fund is dedicated to the continued care and restoration of the 3,000 acre estate and the 60 structures that dot this historic property.
There will be children’s activities, music, fine food and spirits, all with the time-honored tradition of “Stomping of the Divots”.
If you’re a VIP passholders, you receive access to a sponsor-only area with complimentary parking, food, beverage, and reserved seating. General admission passes available, as well.

Point of trivia for your next night out with your pals: Elisabeth “Pansy” Ireland Poe was was a pioneer for women in the sport of polo. As a young woman in her 20s, Pansy registered under her initials with the United States Polo Association and played on men’s teams. At the time, women were not allowed membership in the USPA (can you imagine!). When her ruse was discovered, she was unceremoniously stripped of her USPA membership and her handicap. Women were denied membership until 1973. Pansy died in 1978.
