A couple years ago before the Covid pandemic changed the world as we knew it, we went to this event. So glad they’re doing it again!
Even if you’re not a science-y kind of person this is truly fascinating, and I highly suggest you go on Saturday, PARTICULARLY if you live in the Tallahassee area, (Staycation, anyone?) The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory is funded by the National Science Foundation and State of Florida making you stakeholders in this state-of-the-art research facility.
I recall the local news excitement when we (Tallahassee) “stole” it from MIT in Boston, a major coup for a little town such as Tallahassee. And it’s still here, making us the Magnetic Capital of the World!
MagLab Open House 2023 will take place on Feb 25th from 10am-3pm! It’s a free, annual event where the public is invited to explore the world’s largest & highest-powered magnet lab, engage with nearly 100 hands-on demonstrations & activities, and meet magnet science experts.
