It’s June – the time that new FSU students and their parents arrive in Tallahassee for days of sponge -like behavior, commonly known as Orientation.
Parents staying at our bed and breakfast frequently tell me they feel like they are sponges soaking up the hours and hours of instruction and information thrown at them in just a couple of days – and nights.
They leave early for an FSU breakfast – and start walking the campus while it’s still cool. When it hits triple digit temperatures and humidity at lunchtime, they’re corralled in an air conditioned building and start filling their notebooks with things they need to know about their FSU child.
If they’re really clever parents, they stay at the Little English Guesthouse so they can escape the crowds of downtown in just a mile or three, and come “home” to a quiet, welcoming spot where they’re highly likely to meet other FSU parents in our breakfast room and share a cup of iced tea while they debrief.
Be a clever parent – spend your orientation nights with us and then you’ll know where to stay when you’re back in Tallahassee over the next 4 years to visit your child.
