Job done! And new job about to commence… It’s perfect weather in Windsor today, quite a feat British meteorologists will tell you. And the ceremony seems to have gone off without a hitch.
Meghan took my advice and went with a simple, minimalist look rather than the big, puffy dress. Who knew she cared what I thought?
And Harry looked resplendent in his military uniform.
There’s Meghan’s mum in a pale green dress and hat. And the hats! Did I mention there were hats all over the place?
Well, it’s a British wedding after all. It is one of those British idiosyncrasies I do love, and I got to wear a fascinator at my brother’s wedding a few years back.
Alas, I’ve never had the opportunity to wear it again as Harry and Meghan forgot to put me on their invitation list. Sigh…
Later on, there will be lots of photos of the beautiful procession through Windsor. Horse drawn carriages, lots of gorgeous horses and guards, heralding trumpets, gazillions of people waving union jack flags as they line the streets and the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex waving regally at the people.
Is there anyone on earth that does pomp and ceremony better than the British?
It is a wedding after all, what better occasion is there to put on one’s diamonds – or a borrowed tiara from Queen Mary, and put one’s best foot forward.
I”m off now, back to watch the rest of the coverage from England, and see what the rest of the day brings…I didn’t get the invitation to the luncheon at the Castle, or the evening party tonight…Oh, well.
