Who would have thought it? Half as old as the USA. I’m glad there were some celebratory stories on the radio today because we do tend to forget the treasures we have right here in the U.S.
Having seen lots of other places in the world, I must say my favourite place on earth is the Grand Canyon. (Other than London, of course!)
I first encountered the Grand Canyon as a young woman in the middle of summer and then again as a more mature “young” woman in the winter. Winter is much better (so is maturity, but that’s a different blog) as there are less tourists and of course no oppressive heat that makes it difficult to breathe, let alone hike.
Thom and I hiked the South Rim and even though it was very cold, it was a truly memorable experience.
When you’re feeling like you’re big stuff, spend some time at the Grand Canyon and the sheer magnitude and magnificence of it will put you in your (somewhat small) place in the grand scheme of it all.
God is so vast, it defies imagination. And then I remembered an article I read a few weeks about the massive canyons on the bottom of the ocean floor.
Can you even imagine?
Doesn’t it boggle the mind to think of the depths of the ocean floor and realize there’s a grand canyon at the bottom of the sea.
If the Grand Canyon in Arizona is a mile deep, how much further down is the bottom of that sea canyon?
Mind-boggling, it is.
Think about it today, and watch your daily trials get put into perspective….
